About This Technique
Harai Goshi Gaeshi (払腰返), or the sweeping hip counter, is a foot technique (ashi-waza) in Judo designed specifically as a counter-attack (kaeshi-waza) against an opponent's Harai Goshi (sweeping hip throw). It exploits the attacker's vulnerable single-leg balance while their sweeping leg is suspended in mid-air.
