About This Technique
Kosoto Gake (小外掛), or the minor outer hook, is a foot technique (ashi-waza) in Judo. Unlike sweeping or reaping throws that whip the opponent's leg into the air, Kosoto Gake involves hooking your leg behind the opponent's weighted leg from the outside, planting your foot, and driving your full upper-body weight straight through them to plow them backward onto the mat.
