About This Technique
Tate Shiho Gatame (縦四方固), or the vertical four-quarter hold (lengthwise four-corner hold / mount pin), is a major pinning technique (osaekomi-waza) in Judo. Performed from a full mount position straddling the opponent's torso along their vertical axis, it involves trapping the opponent's upper body and driving heavy chest pressure downward to pin their shoulders flat against the mat.
