Yoko-shiho-gatame
横四方固Side four quarter hold
About This Technique
Yoko Shiho Gatame (横四方固), or the side four-quarter hold (side four-corner hold), is a fundamental pinning technique (osaekomi-waza) in Judo. Performed from a perpendicular side-control position, it involves reaching one arm under the opponent's neck and the other between their legs to secure tight grips, driving heavy chest pressure downward to pin their shoulders flat against the mat.
