About This Technique
Utsuri Goshi (移腰), or the shifting hip throw, is a classic hip technique (koshi-waza) in Judo used almost exclusively as a counter-attack (kaeshi-waza). It involves catching an attacking opponent as they attempt a hip throw, lifting them off the mat, and shifting your own hips beneath theirs to roll them onto their back.
