Kawazu-gake
河津掛One-leg entanglement
About This Technique
Kawazu Gake (河津掛), or the Kawazu leg-entangling throw, is an entangled sacrifice technique (sutemi-waza) in Judo. It involves wrapping one of your legs around the opponent's leg in a tight grapevine hook and dropping straight backward to pull them down over the trapped limb.
Banned in Competition (Kinshi-waza) Kawazu Gake is strictly illegal in all IJF Judo competitions. Attempting it results in immediate disqualification (Hansoku-make).
