About This Technique
Tani Otoshi (谷落), or the valley drop, is a fundamental side sacrifice technique (yoko-sutemi-waza) in Judo. It involves sliding your leg deep along the mat behind the opponent's feet while dropping your body weight sideways, pulling the opponent down over your leg into the "valley" behind them.
