About This Technique
Yoko Gake (横掛), or the side hook / side dash, is a side sacrifice technique (yoko-sutemi-waza) in Judo. It involves sweeping the outside of an opponent's weighted ankle with your foot at the exact moment you sacrifice your standing posture, dropping sideways onto the mat to pull them down alongside you.
