About This Technique
Sumi Gaeshi (隅返), or the corner overturn, is a fundamental rear sacrifice technique (ma-sutemi-waza) in Judo. It involves dropping straight backward onto the mat while hooking your instep or shin under the opponent's inner thigh, catapulting them diagonally over your shoulder onto their back.
