Waverley Judo Inter-Club Competition

This event provides beginner-friendly competition experience for young judoka, with participant age determined as of December 31, 2026. Matches run on a continuous clock without stopping for matte: 2 minutes and 30 seconds for Under 7, 9, and 11, and 3 minutes and 30 seconds for Under 13 and 15. Bouts run the full time even if an Ippon is scored, ending in a victory for the highest score or a draw if tied. Referees may stop a match early after a second or third Ippon only to prevent injury or significant skill imbalance.

Age divisions span Under 7 through Under 15. Under 7 is mixed-gender; Under 9 and 11 separate boys and girls; and Under 13 and 15 separate both by gender and skill level (Beginners with under three tournament appearances versus Advanced). Entry is $40, with late registration from September 21–25, 2026, and full refunds available until August 31. Weigh-in for Under 7 and 9 runs from 9:15 AM to 9:45 AM ahead of a 10:00 AM start, and division weight adjustments will not be made for late arrivals. Free parking is available at the Mt Waverley station lot, Holskamp Street lot, and nearby streets.

Participants compete at their own risk, as the event is not covered by Judo Victoria or Waverley Judo Club insurance. Competitors must wear a clean, properly fitted white or blue Judo Gi and have trimmed fingernails and toenails.
