2026 - Christchurch - National Technical Examination Weekend

This event represents the year's sole opportunity for participants seeking promotion to 4th Dan and above, as well as those needing to fulfill Kata requirements or take the National Technical Examination.

On Saturday, November 21, the National Technical Examinations begin at 10:00 AM following a 9:30 AM dojo opening.

On Sunday, November 22, the dojo opens at 9:00 AM for practice ahead of the 10:00 AM Kata Examinations. All applicants must arrange their own accommodation and provide their own Uke.

While formal pre-examination is not mandatory, candidates are strongly advised to have their Katas examined beforehand in line with Kodokan standards.

Registration must be submitted through club administrators via the online Event Management system by the closing date of Saturday, November 7, 2026, and application forms must be emailed to technical@judonz.org.

All applicants must pre-pay examination fees via direct credit, with total costs depending on the grade and components taken—ranging from $225 for a 1st Dan Kata-only exam up to $525 for a 5th Dan and above combined Kata and NTE exam, with re-examination fees set at $50 per test section.
