Townsville Judo Club

Townsville Judo Club is a not-for-profit, volunteer-run club at the Townsville Sports Precinct in North Ward. With over 100 members, it says it is the second largest judo club in Queensland and one of the Top 10 in Australia, which is impressive for a regional city. It teaches children, teens and adults at every level, from beginners to national competitors, and offers a free trial class.

What sets it apart is its focus on staying affordable and on regional athletes. It is a registered FairPlay provider and is raising funds for new mats, safety equipment, facility upgrades and competition travel. Its juniors have won results at the 2026 Queensland State Championships in Brisbane, and the club recognises the big commitment families make to travel there from North Queensland.
